Beach & Trail Clean Up

The beach, it’s “the happy place” we go to in our minds. For millions of us around the world, its our favorite place to be. Entire cities and economies revolve solely around people’s love for the beach. The biggest question is, what’s with all the trash?

There are currently 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastics in our oceans. Plasticoceans.org reports that each year north of 10 million tons of plastic enter our waterways. If we keep going at the rate we have been, by 2050 there will be more plastic in our oceans than fish. Ghent University conducted a study which was a huge wake up call for those of us who love seafood. Their studies showed that an estimated 11,000 small plastic fragments are ingested by seafood eaters every year. In harming our oceans, we are inevitably harming ourselves. However, it is not too late for circumstances to change for the better.

Many organizations around the globe such as The Surfrider Foundation, host beach cleanups to combat this polluted water crisis. In simply removing unnecessary waste from our beaches, we can save marine life, preserve the natural wonders in our oceans, keep toxins out of the water, and make seafood safer.

It is time we do our part. We’d like to invite you to join us Saturday, June 3rd in our efforts to clean up Pelham Bay Park, and improve the health of marine life and their surrounding ecosystems. With your help, we can work to further minimize this ongoing crisis, and preserve our oceans and beaches around the world. For more information please contact info@massemporium.com
